What Are Your Thoughts on the San Diego Craft Beer Scene and AleSmith’s role in it?
The growth of the local craft beer scene has just been incredible.
What started out as just a handful of pioneering local craft beer brewers and supporters has evolved into what we now have today, one of the finest local craft beer scenes in the country.

I think that AleSmith has helped pave the way in making big, strong, flavorful and unique beers that are also very well balanced and quite drinkable.

How your history with craft beer has developed your passion for craft brewing:
Once I tasted my first quality craft beer, there was no going back to bland and boring mega beer.
That interest in fresh and flavorful beer led me to start homebrewing, which is where I started to develop the passion for brewing. I was motivated to experiment with every different malt, hop and yeast I could get my hands on, and to try to make the best tasting beer possible. I decided that brewing was something that I loved doing and was very passionate about it, and if I could do this for a living, I would be very happy. I volunteered to help out at a couple local breweries, and eventually worked my way into a position at AleSmith.
That was 14 years ago, and the passion is even stronger now than it was back then.
