2019 San Diego Beer Week Events

 

We’ll be hosting a full 10 days of San Diego Beer Week events at the brewery with something special for everyone; from the craft beer newbie to the seasoned enthusiast!

 


Small Batch Series Can Release

Friday, November 1st | 11am

We will be featuring two special collaborations for this next round of Small Batch Series releases.
Liquid Moderation (4.5% ABV)
This beer was brewed with local
Congressman Scott Peters, who represents
California’s 52nd District. Beer brings
people together. This session IPA aims to
encourage conversation and a desire to find
common ground regardless of party or
beer preference.
This session IPA features Idaho 7 and Citra, two highly sought after hops that showcase intense notes of grapefruit, lime, and tropical fruit. The beer is mildly bitter, intensely aromatic, and easily drinkable.
Meadowfoam Magic (6.75% ABV)
Meadowfoam is a Pacific Northwest plant that creates a unique, marshmallow-flavored honey. Owner Peter Zien created this beer in collaboration with Hilary Kearney from Girl Next Door Honey. A donation will be made by AleSmith to the Xerces Society in support of intiatives to protect bees, vital role players in sustaining our food sources.

 

Beer Week Kick Off Toast

Friday, November 1st | 7:30pm

Owner, Peter Zien, and Head Brewer, Ryan Crisp will lead the Tasting Room in a toast to officially kick off our favorite week of the year!

 


OBF (Oud Bruin Framboise) Bottle Release

Saturday, November 2nd | 11am

AleSmith recently won two silver medals in the California Craft Brewers Cup for our sour beers, and now we’re releasing our first barrel-aged sour in bottles to the public!  OBF (Oud Bruin Framboise) is tart and fruity Belgian-style brown ale that we loaded down with raspberries before aging it in our finest red wine barrels.  A slight caramel maltiness and smooth finish complements the tangy character in this classic beer highlighted by notes of raisin and black cherry.  OBF will be available in a limited number of 330ml 2-packs and on draft.

Learn to Homebrew Day

Saturday, November 2nd

Join us on the patio to witness how to create a beer on a 15-gallon homebrew system in honor of National Learn to Homebrew Day!

For one day only, the public will have access to tasters of 2019 barrel-aged beers previously only released to Order of the Anvil beer club members. This is your chance to sample the rare beers created specifically for our members.

Peter’s Vintage Bottle Sale

We’ll be opening up the cellar and releasing some of our most sought-after vintage bottles. Sale starts at 11am and ends when we sell out!

Speedway Grand Prix 

Wednesday, November 6th – Friday, November 8th

It’s time for AleSmith’s 7th Annual 3-Day Speedway Grand Prix event during San Diego Beer Week! The event will feature over twelve different specialty Speedway Stout variants broken into three flights (aka Laps) AND a VIP Lap featuring Barrel-Aged versions.

Speedway Stout has been a favorite in AleSmith’s year-round lineup since 1999. Its flavor is dominated by chocolate and roasted malts, which are complemented by a healthy dose of coffee added to each batch. While we love this stout just the way it is, its well-balanced profile and smooth drinkability make it the ideal candidate for the AleSmith team to use to flex their creative muscles. So, once a year we decide to push the limits and create exclusive one-off variations of Speedway Stout that are sure to impress.

The Speedway Grand Prix will take place here at AleSmith Brewing Company Wednesday (11/6/2018), Thursday (11/7/2018), and Friday (11/8/2018) during San Diego Beer Week. Celebrate craft beer properly during San Diego Beer Week and drink some “laps” with us!

Sublime Mexican Lager 40oz Bottle Release Party

As part of San Diego Beer Week, we’ll be celebrating the release of a special Limited Edition Sublime Mexican Lager 40oz bottle! Join us for a party at the brewery with your fellow Sublime fans.

Hair of the Dog Brunch + Specialty Growler Fills

You just barely made it through San Diego Beer Week, so it’s time to relax and recuperate with a special brunch menu and Horny Devil Beermosas. Your furry friend probably missed you being out all night, so bring him/her along!

Specialty growler fills of some of the awesome Speedway Stout varietals from Speedway Grand Prix will be available while they last.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Bend & Brew Yoga

Sunday, November 10th | 11am

Sunday fun-day at AleSmith Brewing Company for the closeout of SDBW 2019. Come join us at 11AM for an hour of yoga with Bri Marie Yoga (https://www.facebook.com/brimarie.yoga/) and stay to have a beer! Practice yoga in our barrel cellar surrounded by the scent of brewing beer. Your ticket includes one (1) full pour of non-barrel aged beer. Complimentary acoustic music performed by Kayla Rawlston (@kaylarayacoustics) in the tasting room from 12pm to 2pm afterwards.  Food truck will be on site for optional purchases.
